A vacationer photographed these 35mm slides while visiting Seoul in 1978. Skyscrapers fill a city now in the midst of modernization. Gyeongcheonsa Temple's Ten-Story Pagoda* stands in Gyeongbokgung Palace where it will remain until 1995 (the pagoda currently resides in the National Museum of Korea). The Government-General Building** (formerly the Japanese General Government Building) hides Geunjeongjeon Hall (the main throne room) from the rest of Seoul for another 15 years before being demolished.
